Cultural Center

Paidéia Cultural Association resides in a space owned by the municipality. This complex of buildings, which have been used for several purposes, the first of them being a place where garbage collectors would rest their chariots, has hosted Paidéia since 2006. The perennial risk of losing this place and, with it, the possibility of continuing our project, puts the institution in a constant effort towards making socially relevant and artistically innovative work. Since then, we have been transforming this space into a center for artistic production focused on the formation and development of children and youth. Much beyond being only a place for presentation, it is a meeting point of cultural agents.

Paidéia Cultural Association has:
– 2 theater stages with capacity of 100 and 80 seats;
– a wide shed, where different activities happen, such as Choir classes, Gafieira dance classes, and dance, theater and music presentations;
– the Café Paideia, where volunteer youth works offering food and drinks during the weekends when we have activities;
– the Movie Theater, where we have open cinema sessions as well as debates and the Perdigoto Project;
– the Library, which has a collection of theater plays and books on theater theory;
– the Scenography Room;
– the Costumes Room;
– and a broad yard with many trees and spaces to socialize.
